缅甸的青年爱民憧憬日本漫画，爱读，为了成为漫画家而去日本留学。以有限的留学资金为基础开始寻找公寓，但意外地发现了超出想象的日本高额房租。在这样的情况下，虽然发现了便宜的房子并马上决定了，但是在40年左右的旧公寓周围，有着一成不变的两个习惯的住人。而且最重要的是，在爱明的房间里，有着白皙黑发的幽灵（玲）！背上不能反悔的艾敏开始了和幽灵的共同生活…。Disarmingly realistic in its depiction of the realities of frontier life, Heartland is a strong antidote to the cliches of traditional Westerns. This semi-documentary slice of life is based on the diaries of Elmore Randall Stewart about her days on the Wyoming frontier in the early 20th century. It's a strongly feminist statement about a woman raising her small daughter alone and scrapping for a living by working for a shy Scottish rancher. Director Richard Pearce brings an endearing touch to a film that is helped greatly by the dazzling cinematography of Fred Murphy. Conchata Ferrell and Rip Torn star in this small film that substitutes veracity for a high-powered plot. Pearce worked as a cinematographer on Woodstock and other documentaries before making his directorial debut. Winner of the 1980 Berlin Golden Bear at the Berlin Film Festival。
