蓝色的海面上微波荡漾，海鸥轻巧地掠过海面，在水上自由地飞翔。一条白色的海轮在破浪前进，这是我国第一艘万吨海轮“民主十五号”在试航中。在国庆节来临的时刻，“民主十五号”完成了四十几个小时的试航，我国的第一条万吨轮试制成功了。刘厂长和王万水师傅站在船台上，回忆起了三个多月以前的往事。那时，这条船还是一个空壳，向国外订购的3000匹马力的内燃机迟迟未到，而我国又暂时不能制造，船体在水中已经浸泡了八个多月，一直不能开工，刘厂长心里十分焦急。一天，他被王万水师傅拉去看一张大字报……。A boyfriend, who can barely speak English, embarks on an overseas trip with his girlfriend, who takes charge of planning everything and even handles communication on his behalf.
