1949年的开罗。考古学家、战争时曾担任牧师的梅林（斯特兰•斯卡斯加德 Stellan Skarsgård 饰）接到一份工作，将前往肯尼亚参与发掘一座五世纪的教堂，委托人了解梅林在圣神像领域的专长，要求他取得一个苏美尔风格的恶魔像。梅林来到肯尼亚，与教廷派来的神父汇合，才得知教廷对这座五世纪的教堂一无所知，而这座教堂本身充满了疑点。在发掘队医生莎拉（伊沙贝拉•斯科鲁普科 Izabella Scorupco 饰）等人的介绍下，梅林发现整个发掘过程也充满诡异现象，考古学家贝松在发掘中发疯，而贝松画出的图画，分明与梅林看到的恶魔像如出一辙。同时，发掘营地的孩子出现了被“恶魔触碰”的状况，浑身抽搐却能操纵土狼。梅林等人似乎在恶魔的诅咒中越陷越深……。Philippe Clarence, a famous Parisian dressmaker, seduces his friend's fiancee.
