1948年，孟买。饱受争议的知名作家Saadat Hasan Manto因出版多部针砭时事的作品而引起公众愤慨。印巴分治之后，他不得不离开孟买这座深爱的城市，前往巴基斯坦的拉哈尔。他对言论自由的信仰以及对社会边缘人的关怀使得他的流放之旅成为一场悲剧，更使他将心中所有的力量都投注到笔尖之上。。该剧讲述了行政总厨徐冰和刑满释放人员时慧宝的故事。起初他们分别在不同饭店后厨较量，后来时慧宝转投徐冰所在的酒店。两人性格相悖且曾是对手，不得不继续比拼。在这个过程中，两人各自经历着亲情和爱情的历练，彼此的隔阂也渐渐消除。。Ryu is a skilled young writer who has a girlfriend, Pin, who he's dated since high school.
