历经楚汉争霸、文景之治，汉王朝迎来了如日中天的鼎盛时刻。少年登基的汉武帝刘彻一扫祖父辈无为而治的政治方针，海纳百川，广招贤能，一时间主父偃、张汤、卫青、霍去病、董仲舒、汲黯等名臣将相接踵而至。在这些能臣中间，东方朔是一个地位颇有些奇妙的人。他出身山东，学贯五车，满腹经纶，早年通过平阳公主引荐得以面上。但是皇帝似乎对他颇有忌惮，既采纳他的策论奇谋，又不对其委以重用。既不将其纳为栋梁重臣，又不让他离开京城。内心充满不平的东方朔只能以诙谐面孔示人，这正是他可悲可叹、无可奈何的命运…… 本片根据东方龙吟的长篇小说《智圣东方朔》改编。。Bilbo Baggins the Hobbit was just minding his own business, when his occasional visitor Gandalf the Wizard drops in one night.
